Since 2001, more than 140 newborns in Tennessee have been safely surrendered instead of abandoned, thanks to this life-saving law. Updated in July 2025, the Safe Haven Law now allows mothers up to 45 days after birth to legally and confidentially surrender their babies at designated safe facilities.
